Our home-reared beef, hung to a minimum of 21 days, for the best taste
and our own pork, plus lamb sourced from local farmers within a 15 mile
radius, ensuring full traceability. Terry, trained as a chef and a
butcher, can tell you the provenance of every cut of meat on the
counter and also advise you on which cuts to buy and how to cook them.
He is highly experienced, makes his own sausage in six different
flavours and cures his own bacon. He can prepare whatever you like to
order. A typical Hungersheath Home-reared meat box to order (containing 2 sirloin steaks, 1 x 900g joint of Topside, 2 x 450g minced steak, 2 x 450g braising steak, 2 x 450g stewing steak costs £38) – just phone through your requirements to Terry and he can prepare whatever you wish.
We also sell free-range chicken and a variety of very popular seasonal
game, such as venison, duck, pheasant and rabbit.
The cheese and deli counters:
Be surprised at the range of locally produced farmhouse cheeses. We
offer a range of fantastic flavoursome British cheeses – half local -
plus succulent stuffed olives and continental cured meats.
You will be welcomed by fresh, top quality fruit and vegetables -
grown by us and locally when in season. Nick’s mum, with over 50 years’
experience, makes our own jams – with our own fruit, naturally, and Kath
is our supreme cake baker. Whatever we do not make ourselves is
supplied locally: milk, bread, farmhouse butter, chutneys and pickles,
sweet and savoury pies…the list is endless. We have over 30 local
suppliers, so a real local farm shop!
