Our Tea Room is gearing up for British Food Fortnight again.  Two years ago we launched our Great British Roast to coincide with British Food Fortnight, and we are still proud to be serving our own beef every Sunday with our own home-grown and local veg.   This year we will continue to serve our regular local specialities from our menu, including Staffordshire oatcakes, Ploughmans with our local cheese board, local pork pie platters, seasonal soups such as our home-grown carrot and coriander and our own raspberry cream tea.  Also on the menu will be fabulous Hand-made Scotch egg platters, Patchwork pate platters and a warming Hungersheath beef and local ale casserole with crusty rolls from TO Williams….Yummy British Food………

Tasting for British Food Fortnight

We shall be holding our annual tasting to mark the start of British Food Fortnight on Friday 17 and Saturday 18 September, 11 – 2.  We would love to see as many as possible come along and enjoy all that Hungersheath has to offer.  We shall be tasting cheeses, chutneys, our own home-made burgers and sausage, as well as locally reared kid and goat meat, from Chestnut Meats of Tarpoley, Cheshire.  Tim and Marnie Dobson will be with us to talk you through their home-reared goat meat and the benefits of eating such lean, low fat, low cholesterol tasty meat.  We look forward to seeing you!

Eggs-citing News!

The Hand-made Scotch Egg Co have held a high profile in the press this month, receiving praise from Tom Parker-Bowles in the Mail on Sunday on 1st August and also voted Producer of the Month by

Always on the look out for great new products, we spotted these yummy eggs at a local Trade Fair and have been stocking them since July.  Hand-made and produced with free-range eggs and pork  local to their company in Herefordshire, the scotch eggs come in a variety of flavours: from “Classic Mac”, to “Black Watch” (made with black pudding) and my personal favourite, so far anyway, “Scrumpy” (with added apple, onion and fresh sage).  With 40 or so flavours, there is bound to be a personal favourite for all!

Come and try one at Hungersheath – we are one of the few stockists in the area.  They are on sale in the Shop and on the menu in the Tea Room
