Happy New Year!

Posted in General

Things have now returned to normal in the Shop after all the festivities, and we would like to wish our customers a very Happy and Healthy New Year from all of us at Hungersheath.  We hope that things have returned back to normal after the Big Freeze!  We are heartily relieved to have that behind us – frozen pipes and cattle troughs on the farm, frozen pipes in the tea room and a burst pipe/flood in the house just after Christmas are things that we can do without!

2011 as a New Year is another exciting one for us and we have plans to make the business even more attractive to you as our customers.  Looking back into 2010, we launched this website, introduced our customer loyalty/thank you scheme, managed to raise £680 for our Local First Responders on our Three County Cycle Ride,  hosted Open Farm Sunday for a third consecutive year, held four seasonal Tasting events, and introduced eight new local producers with their specialist products to the Shop.  We will have to work hard to top that, and we are working on it!  In the meantime, we have taken the decision to close the Tea Room temporarily for re-decoration, taking advantage of this quieter time in the year.  We hope that this causes no great inconvenience and that you will soon be able to enjoy Kath’s great cakes and Patricia’s fabulous cooking as soon as poss!

Casting off the cold spell

Posted in General

It is fair to say that we are certainly battling against the elements at the moment!  Freezing temperatures, frozen pipes, icy yards….this present cold snap is testing!

If there are any positives to the weather, we are living in a winter wonderland at the moment, and we think that Christmas preparations have started early because of that.  Orders for our local barn-reared turkeys are coming in thick and fast, as are orders for gammons, our home-reared beef, geese, three bird roasts and food hampers too!  This Saturday we are tasting a new product for the season:  Benson’s Apple and Cinammon Juice – a wonderful soft option to mulled wine…well, we can’t be tasting alcohol all the time, can we?!

Festive Tasting this Saturday!

Posted in General

This Saturday, we are holding our annual Christmas Tasting, to get in the mood for the festivities ahead.  We have Rosie Sedgwick, of “My Gineration”, Chester with her delicious range of fruit liqueurs available to sample, from 11 – 2.  As last year, the Tea Room will be offering a free home-made mince or Christmas cake made by “Honesty Foods”, of Tarporley with every tea/coffee purchase.  Moreover, to help with the planning around Christmas, Terry is taking orders for local farm fresh turkeys, gammons, geese, game, three bird roasts and home-reared beef and pork.  Any orders taken on Saturday will have a free 1lb local pork pie on collection at Christmas.  So, plenty to get you into the festive spirit!  Hope to see you here!
