Cornish Blue heading to Staffordshire

Posted in General

OK, so it is not a cheese local to the Staffordshire/Shropshire area, as so many of the cheeses within our range are, but it has been voted World Champion at the 2010 World Cheese Awards last November!

This superb cheese, now on the world stage, was invented nine years ago by Philip Stansfield as a blue cheese to appeal to the ladies.

Come along, try some and compare it to the other blues that we currently have available: Nantwich Blue, Blacksticks Blue and our classic Stilton.

Farmhouse Breakfast Week

Posted in General

As it is now Farmhouse Breakfast Week this week, use the opportunity to collect a free breakfast recipe booklet from the Shop to tantalise your taste buds, and treat yourself to some real, hearty Hungersheath breakfast produce!  We have South Shropshire muesli, local milk,  local bread, farmhouse butter, home-made jams and marmalades and local honey for a mid-week rush, and obviously home-made sausage, bacon cured here at Hungersheath, black pudding and local free-range eggs for the Full Monty.  Staffordshire oatackes with melted cheese and tomato are also a must.  Treat yourself  and fuel up!

Happy New Year!

Posted in General

Things have now returned to normal in the Shop after all the festivities, and we would like to wish our customers a very Happy and Healthy New Year from all of us at Hungersheath.  We hope that things have returned back to normal after the Big Freeze!  We are heartily relieved to have that behind us – frozen pipes and cattle troughs on the farm, frozen pipes in the tea room and a burst pipe/flood in the house just after Christmas are things that we can do without!

2011 as a New Year is another exciting one for us and we have plans to make the business even more attractive to you as our customers.  Looking back into 2010, we launched this website, introduced our customer loyalty/thank you scheme, managed to raise £680 for our Local First Responders on our Three County Cycle Ride,  hosted Open Farm Sunday for a third consecutive year, held four seasonal Tasting events, and introduced eight new local producers with their specialist products to the Shop.  We will have to work hard to top that, and we are working on it!  In the meantime, we have taken the decision to close the Tea Room temporarily for re-decoration, taking advantage of this quieter time in the year.  We hope that this causes no great inconvenience and that you will soon be able to enjoy Kath’s great cakes and Patricia’s fabulous cooking as soon as poss!
