Tasting this Saturday

Posted in General

British Food Fortnight is nearly over – I could have missed it in all the excitement!  Never to be left off the calendar, however, so we are holding a tasting on Saturday to enjoy our British cheeses and pickles, English perry plus wonderful desserts.  Keep flying that flag for Great British Food!!!

We did it!!!!!

Well, what a month we have had!  Both of us now have completed our cycling challenges:  Nick’s 350 miles in four days up and down from Lands End to Twickenham, and my 250 miles in five days of extreme heat in Sri Lanka!  Very different challenges (think I had the better deal!!!) but both equally rewarding.  We have funded all our costs ourselves for both and sponsored each other generously but I would like to raise more for the Genesis Research Trust if I can.  This charity does vital work for the health of women and babies and has already contributed significantly to developments in cervical cancer, miscarriage, premature birth and IVF.  A worthwhile charity that touches so many.  If you would like to pledge your support, go to www.justgiving.com/Helen-Furnival  Thank you x

We love cycling at Hungersheath!

As the “Big Man” Sir Brad and the rest of the Sky team swept past the end of our lane today, we were out waving our Union Jacks!  We know some of the banks that they will encounter today all too well as Nick and I have been doing a lot of training lately for two separate charity cycle rides – Nick rode over 350 miles for the English rugby chosen charity: Wooden Spoon for disadvantaged children and I start my quest at the week-end, riding 250 miles for the Genesis Research Trust.  600 miles between us in September can’t be bad (though not Tour GB standard, I know!)  I shall be posting a “just giving” website address should you wish to support upon my return………
