The asparagus tasting last week-end went very well – the asparagus based terrines from Espley Farm, Hodnet, proving a real hit, particularly both the asparagus/chicken and the cream cheese/asparagus varieties!  Our own home-made asparagus quiche was also a real winner, and the asparagus and Cheshire cheese muffins were delish straight out of the oven – quite a surprise and also a talking point!

Open Farm Sunday was enjoyed by all that came and we were pleased to see some new faces.  As usual the tractor and trailer rides were a hit, as was the barbecue (!) and it was a delight to see visitors just sit and enjoy the farmyard life, including all the nesting birds flying in and out of the farm buildings, feeding their young.  The deteriorating weather in the afternoon was a pity though, and the torrential downpour at around 3 put paid to the rest of the day!  This was a great pity as it meant that not many had the opportunity to view the cows at milking time.   A rather annoyingly typical English summers day…
